This species of cherry is grafted onto a stem 1.5-1.7 m high and has a globe-shaped crown. Its leaves are glossy, dark green, ovate, with serrated edges. Its small white flowers bloom in April. It does not bear fruit. It loves a sunny spot and well-structured, nutrient-rich soil. Water requirements are moderate. Its value lies in the fact that even without pruning it has a globe-shaped crown, which is further enhanced by the multitude of white flowers that bloom before or at the same time as the leaves emerge. It is most often planted on small streets, on streets beneath overhead power lines, but in smaller gardens it makes a lovely sight combined with other plants.
